2 Click on the New Ctrl + N
option.
A new workbook will be created.
DATA TYPES IN EXCEL
Data types refer to the types of values that can be stored in cells. Following are the
data types used in Excel:
Text: It includes letters, numbers
and special characters like !, Text
@, &,%, etc. Example: Orange!, Number
ABC123@
Time
Number: It consists of digits (0–9)
and can include decimals and Date
signs (-, +) for calculations. Example: 10, 250, 15.6, -25.
Date and Time: These data types represent calendar dates and clock times. The
default format is dd-mm-yyyy for dates and hh:mm or hh:mm:ss for time.
Example: 21-06-2025, 10:30, 10:25:45.
ENTERING DATA IN A WORKSHEET
To enter data in a worksheet, click a cell and
start typing. The text or numbers will appear
in the Formula bar. Press Enter to move
down one cell or Tab to move right. To edit,
double-click the cell and type the new data.
